On 25 May, No.687 Up-train, carrying gravel along Thebyugon-Kali route on Bago-Mawlamyine Railway, was blasted by terrorists when it reached the milepost of 123/23-24 between Theinseik and Donwun Stations in Thaton Township, Mon state. The explosion made the locomotive, its mine cover compartment, crew room, and five coaches derailed.

There were 1,248,123 students who made school enrolment on 22 May, the first day of school enrolment-week.

The Ministry of Health is continuously monitoring for the COVID-19 pandemic. Within a week from 18-25 May 2025, a total of 2,754 laboratory samples were tested, and 6 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed, with a positivity rate of 0.22%. During the reporting period, there were no severe cases, patients requiring intensive care, or deaths due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
